I'm working..really, I am. In fact, I'm starting to think sleep is incredibly inconvenient.
I just came across this little collage I'd made back in December 06. {I've uploaded it bigger, just click to see it properly.}
Ava begged for baked beans. I knew she'd hate them. We spent a good few minutes debating back and forth with her insisting she really, really wanted the baked beans. And, as predicted, she hated them.
I remember the day so clearly.

well...how could she have known, unless she tried them! I hate them as well Sheye!
Hope you know how much I'm thinking of you this week - wish I could come back for a visit and give you a huge hug,
laureen
every image you have of her is divine and l am sure very much treasured by you.
simply beauty full.
what did she say to you as she pointed to you??
All my children HATE Baked Beans Too.
she is truly beauty full. my heart is aching for you this week and know that arms from across the ocean are reaching out and hugging you. my thoughts and prayers are with you daily.
Sweet indeed. She would be a total distraction looking that cute.
Thinking of you
Kristen
The bottom, middle shot just makes me giggle! :)
I have been thinking about your family a lot as I know Ava's birthday is coming up (I remember because hers is the day before my little girl's). Know that there are extra prayers coming your way and we are feeling extra heartache for you in the hopes that it can ease some of yours.
She's just so divine Sheye.
Sonia, from memory it was something like "No, YOU eat them". LOL!

I love the one where she's rolling her tongue. Her face is somewhere between concentration, curiosity and cynicism!

ps please when you get a chance put up the pick of her with the mushrooms out the front! That girl can make baked beans & fungus look divine x
I'm with Ava....yuck. She's so gorgeous though.

Always divine, even whilst eating baked beans in a bikini. Few people in the world that could pull that look off I reckon, yet she does it with such ease.
xxoo
I'm so glad you captured lots of pictures when she still was there...
I'm sure they helps you, if only a little, during this journey...
My thoughts goes to you All this week.
I always struggle with something to write when I see Ava's beautiful face and know you are hurting so...
I want to be completely honest and acknowledge how hard it must be each and every second. When I see the pic of her curling her tongue and picture my own 3 year old daughter doing the same thing...only this morning...I simply don't know how you go on wihtout her. That said, I am in awe of you - always have been and always will be.
Your grace is astounding. My heart breaks with you, Sheye.

Ditto ditto ditto Sara moon's comments. i am thinking, thinking, thinking of you and your family this week 24/7. I don't stop thinking about you and your family. Your world loves you Sheye - I know you are comforted by that - you have to feel it. Hang in there sweetie. Smooches & Hugs, Denise.
Dear Sheye... I too lost a child. I know so well the feeling of dread that accompanies special days. I ache for you. It takes great courage. And so much love. I know you've an abundance of that. I too, am so very relieved when memories come to me. They are like food to a starving body. May you feel Ava's undying love as you remember the day she was born---the very beautiful day that she came to be yours forever...
As I sent my August 21st born baby off to kindergarten this morning I couldn't help but think of you and your dear Ava. I am wishing you strength to make it through this tough week and all your weeks to come!

YOur little Ava is so adorable. I found your blog through a friends. And I am so drawn to it. You are an amazing photographer, and a beautiful mother. Thank you for sharing your story. I am sure you have uplifted so many mothers including me. I wish I could say all the right things, but I don't even know where to begin. Your family is always in my thoughts and prayers. Would love to put a link of your blog on mine, but if you don't want me to I totally understand.
The one where she curls her tongue and the middle one at the bottom are my favourites.
At least she wanted to try them...
Happy that you have such clear memory of that day. And baked beans will forever remind you of Ava (but I'm sure many other things do to).
Love,
Tania
This is my first time commenting. I have been reading your blog for almost a year now and I am so sorry for your loss. I love this collage, it is very special. My heart breaks for you and your family.

How special that you have such beautiful photos to help in remembering the days so clearly...
My heart aches for you. I am a complete stranger. But a mother. These photos & your memories of your beautiful daughter are priceless gifts! It's obvious Ava had personality plus!
Like many others, you don't know me but I feel like I know you...how can I not when my heart just aches for your loss. My children are laughing in the background, while I cry quietly thinking of you, thinking of her. I hope your images of Ava bring you great joy and memories as you look back. Wish I could give you somehow, an inkling of the blessing you've given me, through words and imgages alone.
Ava is the most beautiful Angel I have ever seen. I noticed on the collage Ava managed to do that toung trick which I try to do, but I can never do it and I am 21 lol.
